No ID Needed to Vote in Idaho Elections
I know because, I did it.
Look what I did last year:
Yep, I voted with no ID card!
All I had to do was sign a piece of paper saying I swear I was who I said I was.
In the most recent election, 587 Idaho voters cast ballots in the last election using an “AFFIDAVIT OF PERSONAL IDENTIFICATION.”
That’s only 0.28% of the 213,399 total voter check-ins, meaning 587 Idahoans walked in, claimed to be someone, and voted with zero ID, zero verification, and zero proof they were telling the truth.
It’s time to end this (I plan to do so in the 2026 legislative session).
So, how can you help, Idaho voter?
Get in touch with your legislators and kindly let them know:
NO ID = NO VOTE.

Let’s also address no excuse absentee ballots since we’re taking about election integrity 😊 another misused method of voting and an open door for fraudulent voting!
We asked Grok:
Question: Which bill implemented Idaho Personal Identification Affidavit under Idaho Code § 34-1114 allowing voters to verify their identity and still cast a ballot?
Answer: Idaho House Bill 496 (2010) sponsored by Rep. Mike Moyle. https://legislature.idaho.gov/sessioninfo/2010/legislation/H0496/
There's no reason not to bring a voter ID with a picture. You do not need REAL ID. You do not need digital anything. You just need an ID with your photo.
An affidavit can be useful if you moved since registering to vote, in which case your address won't match voter registration records. But your face will still be your face (unless you had major plastic surgery).
